The Winter Blankets Distribution Project (2024) is a specialized relief initiative by the Dar ul Huda Charitable Trust, conducted in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. Recognizing the severe health risks posed by extreme northern winters, particularly for those in educational boarding environments, the Trust organized this mission to ensure that students from underprivileged backgrounds remain protected and healthy throughout the season.
The winter season in Uttar Dinajpur is characterized by dangerous environmental conditions:
Extreme Cold Waves: Temperatures in this region can drop significantly, often accompanied by dense fog that persists for days, leading to a high incidence of respiratory illnesses and hypothermia among those without adequate bedding.
Socio-Economic Vulnerability: Many students at local residential institutions come from families who cannot afford heavy winter gear, making them highly susceptible to the damp, biting cold typical of the West Bengal plains.
Under the supervision of Dar ul Huda Udupi and in collaboration with Ihsaan Charity (Ilm Squad), the project successfully reached students at institutions like Jamiatul Imam Al-Albani.
The distribution included:
High-Quality Winter Blankets: Thick, durable blankets designed to provide maximum thermal insulation.
Warm Bedspreads: Additional layers to ensure a complete and warm sleeping environment for students.
Educational Support: Beyond the materials, the project provided moral support to the students, ensuring their academic focus is not hindered by physical hardship.
This initiative is a key part of the Kapada Bank’s expanded regional outreach, demonstrating the Trust’s ability to identify and address specific seasonal needs across India, from Karnataka to West Bengal.
